Director of Warehouse Services

Purpose of Role

The Director of Warehouse Services is responsible for leading our warehousing strategy and execution in terms of people, processes, resources, and opportunities for the coming future.

This role ensures operational excellence in all warehousing functions including team leadership, asset utilization, inventory control, facility management, and directing / delegating activities and assignments of all warehouse functions to exceed client expectations in our St. Louis, Atlanta, and Dallas-Fort Worth locations with connectivity to our Chicago warehousing operation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of warehouse field personnel executing warehouse operations, support, logistics, and client relations. This includes direct engagement, provision, mentorship, active involvement to ensure excellence in execution to clients, each other, and the community.
  • Continuous leadership in improvement of operational processes for excellence, process standardization, productivity enhancements, technology improvements, and enhanced collaboration with all parts of our organization.
  • Monitor and lead ongoing reviews of facilities and resources to ensure capacity meets needs, cost structures to improve, and resources meet needs for excellent execution at profitable expectations.
  • Ensure internal and external client billings are timely, monitoring each warehouse operations revenue and cost trends, leading toward meeting P&L expectations.
  • Support field team members in meeting their daily execution expectations, inventory control and management, inbound and outbound logistics operations, sort and fulfillment services, as well as safety performance and policy adherence.
  • Promote continuous motivation among employees to strive for an efficient, effective, and team culture of excellence in each warehouse operation.
  • Insure a high level of safety compliance with each warehouse operation.
  • Responsible for the training of any new hires or temporary help added to support growth in any or all of the duties listed above.
  • In addition, this role will assist in implementing procedures and controls to monitor we exercise reasonable care and maintains the highest standards of compliance to domestic and overseas laws and regulations, taking corrective measure and initiatives as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • This position is fast paced, handling many day-to-day problems while also leading employees to meet tight deadlines. It includes frequent travel to be directly engaged with field team personnel, including back up support when needed.

Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge

  • 5+ years related experience leading warehouse operations, import/export shipments, ocean freight, freight forwarders, and international logistics required.
  • Previous field team leadership experience required.
  • Understanding of TSA (Transportation Security Administration) protocols.
  • Experience with CartonLogic / DaVinci WMS systems applications.
  • Experience in developing and managing KPI’s and SLA in a logistics environment.
  • Attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with high degree of problem solving skills.
  • A positive attitude who is flexible and able to work as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Travel

  • This position will require travel to other Flat World Holdings offices including: St. Louis, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort-Worth.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Business Development

Purpose of Role

Leverage RAM International capabilities to secure new international shipping clients and new profitable freight forwarding business through strategic sales and marketing activities including sales calls, business meetings, presentations, and other avenues of uncovering new business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and perform analytics / data review to uncover new business opportunities with positive revenue implications.
  • Link internal data and opportunity with external available target client background and contact information to identify potential sales outreach strategy.
  • Develop root cause analysis of ongoing client opportunities for improved value, service, and cost, including carrier optimization, modal optimization, pool consolidation and distribution, and other qualitative insights.
  • Perform the analytical due diligence required to understand the impact of proposed improved value initiatives on client business, and create business case client proposals.

Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge

  • Experience analyzing and combining multiple sets of data to reflect business opportunities, needs, and potential outcomes.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across business functions to obtain multiple data sets, points of view and lead problem solving initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 2-4 years of professional business to business sales experience.

Travel

  • This position will require limited travel to other Flat World Holdings offices including: St. Louis, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort-Worth.
